Paediatric First Aid Course in Swansea

Our Paediatric First Aid Course in Swansea is designed to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements, as set out by the Department for Education. This comprehensive training ensures childcare professionals, childminders, and carers are fully equipped to manage a wide range of paediatric emergencies with confidence and competence.

Important Reminder: Newly qualified childcare staff with Level 2 or 3 qualifications (since 30 June 2016) must hold a paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting employment.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age: 14 years
  • All participants must be physically able to carry out floor-based practical exercises

What You Will Learn

This course provides hands-on training to prepare participants for a range of paediatric emergencies. Topics include:

  • Responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • Infant and child CPR, including AED use
  • Choking management
  • Treating wounds, bleeding, cuts, and shock
  • Caring for unconscious children
  • Managing head, spinal, and bone injuries
  • Treating anaphylaxis, burns, scalds, and catastrophic bleeding
  • Responding to febrile seizures, poisoning, bites, and stings

Certification

On successful completion, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate valid for three years.
